Cori Parks, Educational Contributor

A self-described jack-of-all-trades, Cori wears many hats, not from a lack of focus, but from a wide range of enthusiastic interests.  She is originally from North County, San Diego, where she first took to the coastal Highway 101 on her fat frame Cannondale in the early ’80s. Before she realized that cycling was a “thing” she was taking apart and putting her bike back together out of curiosity, and disappearing, much to her family’s annoyance, for hours at a time.  It would be years before she realized that cycling was exercise. It was always about the adventure.

Cori is a global nomad at heart. Before finishing high school she was an exchange student in Australia for a year. She became a professional interpreter for the deaf in 1985 and went on to complete her bachelor’s in Ontario, Canada (Teaching English as a Second Language and Sociology). After a year of working at the Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro, Vermont, she moved to Namibia to be in the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers, where she taught English. All this bouncing around, and she always had a bike near by!

She returned from Africa married to her amazing husband who now works for Unicef, so she continues the quest as a global nomad.  While posted in Kenya in the early ’90s, Cori took a horrible step aerobics class and decided that she could do better.  She spent subsequent home-leaves acquiring credentials from ACE and experience from IDEA fitness conventions and established her career as an international fitness professional, practicing in Kenya, Madagascar, Egypt, Cambodia, and now Thailand.

Cori is a Spinning® master instructor with a huge passion for the fitness industry.  She is also an American Heart Association first aid/CPR/AED instructor and an author.

She brings to ICA a global experience in coaching, cross-cultural communication and community building as a technique for sustained fitness pursuits.
