I’ve been a big fan of the German group Klangstrahler Projekt since I first heard about them in the early 2000s. I used several of their songs in my sessions at WSSC (World Spinning and Sports Conference). This track, “Tribal Force,” is one I’ve returned to over and over. It will always be a part of my repertoire as it’s one of those tracks that helps you tie your message to the movement.

At 85 bpm, it can play many roles, from a warm-up to a mesmerizing endurance track to part of a long, focused climb.

I originally used it as part of my Moving Mountains ride, a two-hour mental-strength climbing experience. The hypnotic rhythm helps keep you focused on what you are doing—making your pedal stroke consistent, tying your breath to your movement, relaxing the upper body so you can submerse yourself in the moment.

Aside from a few technique or mental-strength cues, this track works best with few words. Let riders stand if needed to stretch the legs, but encourage as much time in the saddle as possible. The song encourages a steady intensity without attacks or surges, from moderate to sustainably hard.

I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do; let me know in the comments if you’ve used it before or are planning to.
