World Music Day is a celebration of music around the world. It promotes the sharing of music—from amateurs and professionals—and encourages artists to share their sound with the public. Many free concerts are organized to be enjoyed by the public, and most must be free.
The jury is out on when the official date is for World Music Day. We’ve seen search results saying it’s 10/1 and others saying it 6/21, so that just gives you two opportunities to use this playlist! This day was initiated by Maurice Fleuret, the director of music and dance at the Ministry of Culture, and is also sometimes referred to as Fête de la Musique, as it first took place in Paris in 1982.
