Theme Ride Thursday: Sci-Fi and Outer Space

Back in February 2018, Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster was launched into space on the first SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. Aboard it was “Starman,” a dummy driver placed behind the wheel. We can’t help but wonder where he’s headed or who he’ll meet along the way, which is how we came to this week’s installment of Theme Ride Thursday: Sci-Fi and Outer Space.

Some classics included on this playlist are “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, “Rocket Man” by Elton John, “Man on the Moon” by REM, and “Intergalactic” by the Beastie Boys. One of my favorites that will get a chuckle from your class is Flight of the Conchords’ “Robots,” about humans being dead and robots ruling the world. They even break it down with some binary code at the end of the song.

As always let us know what favorites we might have missed, and if you’re looking for a profile to accompany this playlist then check out Bill Pierce’s Quick Profile Journey through Space.
