RIP Avicii…So Talented, So Young

I had just finished an amazing ride halfway up Mount Lemmon today, my second day on vacation in Tucson, Arizona. It was a beautiful, fantastic ride. I felt strong for my first outdoor climb of the cycling season. I loaded up my bike in the car, turned on the radio, and heard Avicii’s hit song “Wake Me Up.” Yes! I thought, I love this song—what a great way to end my ride! (It did strike me as a little weird that I’d be hearing it on the news station, National Public Radio, though.)

Then they announced the news. Avicii died today. He was only 28 years old.

So talented. So young. One of the most popular DJs and prominent producers in the EDM world today.

Play these amazing songs in your classes this weekend in his honor.

I especially like this video of “Wake Me Up” with the powerful lyrics.

All this time I was finding myself,
And I didn’t know I was lost.

Hey brother,
If the sky comes falling down,
For you, there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.

Oh, sometimes
I get a good feeling, yeah
Get a feeling that I never, never, never, never had before, no no
I get a good feeling, yeah.
