Quick Profile: Rolling Ride to Sturgis

The Sturgis rally takes place this year from Fri, Aug 6, 2021 – Sun, Aug 15, 2021. Initially, the focus was racing and stunts, but over the years it has hosted concerts, 5Ks, a military appreciation day, pub crawls, a beard and mustache contest, and most importantly…Taco Tuesday! Why not get in on the fun and try our newest profile from guest contributor Amanda Kirlin?

This is a theme ride based on bands that have played at the Buffalo Chip Campground and concert venue in Sturgis, South Dakota, at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The overall objective is interval training and this will be accomplished through intervals at various perceived effort levels to simulate riding our bicycles through the rolling Black Hills of South Dakota on our way to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Sturgis is a beautiful town located in the heart of the Black Hills and is home to this motorcycle rally that attracts over 500,000 riders each year. Enjoy—it’s a wild ride.

Effort is given as RPE (rate of perceived exertion).

In this profile, the cadence (rpm) is not always coordinated with the bpm of the music. Allow riders to find the cadence that works best for them at the given intensity.

And make sure to check out our Sturgis playlist for other songs from bands that have played at the Buffalo Chip Campground.
