Master Class: Ascent to Elysium

This profile is inspired by the movie Gladiator (2000) where Maximus (Gladiator), Commander of the Armies of the North, addresses his men before battle, “…Stay with me. If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled; for you are in Elysium…”

Take your riders on a journey up a 31-minute climb to their own personal Elysium.

  1. Tom,

Gladiator is one of my favorite all time movies. And the sound track has helped me motivate riders for years.

Your Ascent to Elysium sure did catch my attention. The music was spot on (no surprise there) and the story great. My class loved it and told me they wanted more.

Moreover, I realized that although I thought I was giving them what they wanted they truly appreciated this sort of profile. As did I. It reminded me why I sit on the bike in front of the room. Coaching rather than leading a class is often more powerful and fulfilling. For the instructor and the rider.

Thanks for getting me back on the horse. I can feel the sun on my face already.

    Chuck
