Mainstream Music Monday: Oh, Mercy Me!

Looking for a song that will kick off a dance party in your studio? “Emergency” by Icona Pop came out about two years ago and I could not get enough of it. Hopefully your students who love songs with a throwback, big-band feel and lots of brass will love this one too! It’s a song to listen to when you’re in a good mood, or one to take you out of a bad mood.

I use this song in my “HIIT Me Baby, One More Time” profile where riders are prompted to perform a series of high-intensity, anaerobic intervals as the recovery period between intervals shortens. For this song the effort is at 0:00–0:30 and 2:00–2:30.

The video is pure ridiculousness, so I beg you not to judge a book by its cover.

Love this song, Karen! Can you provide a link for your HIIT Me Baby profile? Thanks!

I have always loved this song for a tabata sequence. I use the Sam Feldt Remix which is 4:11 long – almost a perfect length for the eight 30 second interval tabata cycle.

This would be a fun addition to the New Year’s Celebration playlist!

LOVE, and I just found the Club Killers remix on Spotify, just a bit longer, keeps a lot of the original sound with a bit more club sound..thanks for the suggestion!
