How to Develop a Faster Cadence, Part 2: Four Considerations for Training Leg Speed

In part 1 of this cadence series, we discussed why cadence matters so much in indoor cycling classes. In this chapter, you’ll see how form and technique—and ultimately pedal stroke—are at the foundation of being able to pedal more quickly. Numerous drills are provided to help you reach this goal.

Below are four considerations to keep in mind when training higher cadence.

In part 3 I will dive deeper into more drills to help riders improve their high-cadence skills. I’ll also give you links to three profiles whose objective is cadence improvement. These profiles serve as a great educational tool when teaching your riders about the physiology of cadence, which we will cover in more depth in part 4.
