This is a BONUS Audio Master Class: Republishing last year’s Vuelta Team Time Trial with a few changes for this year. I want you to be able to teach this exciting profile with a Spanish flair during this year’s Vuelta – or any time of the year for that matter! This year’s Team Time Trial for the Vuelta a Espana is very similar to last year’s. It is mostly flat, although it has a slight uphill for several kilometers, followed by a slight downhill, then totally flat. So it is a very fast stage.
Team Time Trials are very fun to teach. I decided to take this audio Master Class which I recorded for last year’s Vuelta, and republish it here for you all to use. On the transcript PDF that you can download below, I’ve added an addendum with a small change to accommodate for the slightly different terrain from last year, but in reality, all of the coaching and cueing should be the same, and of course, the team strategy and how you describe that in class is going to be the same.
Even if you taught this profile last year, your students will never know the difference. Team Time Trials are in my opinion one of the more exciting race formats to teach in an indoor cycling environment, and they are also an incredible workout with a slight variance of intensity ranging from just below to just above threshold. In other words – you get a lot of bang for your workout buck at this intensity!
As usual, tell us how you like this profile and what your students’ reactions were.
